Baltimore, MD Help provide shabbos meals for women undergoing IVF A friend of mine has started a program called "Shabbos of Hope" in Yerushalayim, with volunteers dedicated to providing shabbos meals for women undergoing intensive fertility procedures (IVF). Women undergoing such procedures endure operations, shots, and heartache in silence. The week after IVF it is difficult for many women to function physically and doctors suggest that women do as little as possible to ensure success. There have also been studies done linking stress levels and the success of such procedures the week following and the idea is to provide Shabbos meals and a glimmer of hope and love during the hardest Shabbos physically and emotionally. Shabbos of Hope is seeking to branch out the service for other communities in Israel and in the United States. It is a volunteer transportation program that provides a much needed service to our community - easy, accessible, and affordable transportation for older adults. We are looking for drivers who would like to take seniors in the Northeast to doctor’s appointments, social activities, visits to friends and relatives in hospitals and nursing facilities - the kinds of things that keep a person engaged in life.
